Tuesday night…. it’s about 10:30 PM and I know in my mind it should be “lights out” because.. well, simply because on rare occasions when I am not out on a holiday party or business dinner or drinks, I should catch up with sleep. **But maybe I can just read one or two new blog posts…**
I open Word Press reader and the first post I notice is from a blog I follow and it has the image of some type of award. Vibes Life Us is about a couple who lives life enjoying music festivals, raves, adventure and travel. They have enjoyed it all and last year they had their first baby. Their blog talks about ways to “survive adulthood keeping the good vibes” and it is written in a fun, witty and captivating way that makes you always want to read more.
I start reading the post about the “Liebster Award”. Being a total newbie blogger – I think it’s been maybe 3 weeks since I dove into the blogging world – I had no clue what this award was, nor had I ever heard of it. I was captivated by their post and their mention of another blog – The Girl Who Went Everywhere. They were thanking her for her nomination and answering some questions she had asked them. **I make a mental note to check out her blog as it sounds she is a traveler just like me.**
I keep reading until at the very end it says: “Our nominees for the Liebster Award“. Holy cow. I read my blog address on #1. Rub my eyes. It’s late, obviously I read it wrong. Read again. My blog name is #1 on their nominee list. Whoa! Can this be really it? I research the award on the web trying to understand how it works – remember: newbie here! And all I can think about is “wow, thank you so much for the love and recognition!!!”
Being a new blogger in this day and age can be very intimidating! But I thought to myself… I am SO passionate about traveling and I have done quite a bit of it so why not write about what I love? So… here is Travel.Eat.Repeat. for you and I couldn’t be happier or more honored to have been nominated for an award from “bloggers to bloggers”. Vibes Life Us, you guys rock!!!
My Favorite Blog: I have come across so many incredible travel blogs since I have started this journey and it is so hard to pick one. But in the spirit of keeping the tradition of the Liebster Award (based on what I have researched) I will pick a “newer” blog as my favorite one! 3 Kids and a BackPack you guys are amazing. The amount of culture and life experience you are exposing your children to is absolutely priceless. No amount of school could ever come close to all the amazing things they will be learning throughout this incredible adventure. Their last post was on their Day 5 in Cambodia. If you haven’t checked them out, I fully recommend you take a minute to do so. Their first post was beyond adorable. The entire family was wearing matching Christmas pajamas and all you see are “5 pajama bottoms with bears on them”. Mom was telling about their decision to take the family backpacking through Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. And since then, she has been recounting their daily experiences. In my opinion, a fun and easy read with lots of pictures to illustrate the trip.
On to my tasks as a nominee:
- List 10 Interesting facts about yourself:
1- My kids are my life.
2- I am half Brazilian-half Italian.
3- I am passionate about languages and can speak a few. Still want to learn some more.
4- I went to pastry school for a hobby.
5- Yoga is a passion of mine and i became a certified yoga instructor this year.
6 – I am a huge fan of the Navy Seals.
7- I am terrified of being upside down (go figure, and I do yoga almost every day!)
8- I do NOT enjoy flying – hate airplanes – but my love for travel is greater than the fear of flying.
9- The glass is always half FULL.
10- I am a firm believer that one should always “work to live but never live to work”.
- 10 Questions Vibes Life Us has asked me:
1- What is the most extreme thing you have ever done: NO doubt about it, it was completing a GoRuck Tough event, where I spent 12 hours overnight with the Navy Seals doing everything Navy Seals do =)
2- What is the best memory that you have while traveling? My very first trip to Rome and Amalfi Coast, Italy, with my two best friends Talina and Pilar. It had been a dream of mine to visit Italy since I am half Italian and it was the best trip of my life. We ate so much and we laughed so much, I would have to write a whole blog about it.
3- If you could give someone $1,000,000, who would you give it to? I would pick an orphanage, so they could invest on everything they needed for the children, from better living conditions to after school and enrichment programs.
4- Do you think education, as it is today, does justice to life and learning? Tough one…. I grew up in Brazil and the education there is very different from here in the U.S. I feel like we are loosing touch with “humanity” and are slowly becoming dis-sensitized to feelings. Kids have so many expectations and so much pressure to be great at everything that they are forgetting to be kids. Not too sure where this will end up.
5- When do you find time to blog? Mostly weekends, during lunch time at work and hmmmm… late nights (it’s 11:20PM now)!
6- Marmite, love it or hate it? I actually had to google that one. Never heard of it! Yikes! I guess i’ll have to find it, try it, and answer later… so rain check.
7 – Who are your 6 ultimate dinner party guests, and why? I have to say my Brazuquinhas – this is how my Brazilian girlfriends and I call each other – simply because no one knows how to have a great time better than Brazilians!
8- Have you ever visited a place just because you saw it in a book/series/animation/movie? What was that place? I am researching one of my next trips because of the stunning scenes from Game of Thrones! I am planning on visiting Dubrovnik, Croatia, sometime during the warmer months!
9- What would your super power be? I would definitely love to be able to tele-transport myself anytime, anywhere! World traveling would be that much easier!
10- What is your favorite book: The Glass Castle.
